Before and even while hiking, I never expected such a sublime experience at Consolation Lakes. The desolate (much more so probably because of the ominous rain clouds) lakes were quite large, stretching all the way into the valley and reaching the bottom of Quadra Mountain. When Mt. Bell caught my eye, brooding in the far distance like a king of all mountains in the area, I really wished I had had more time to take a closer look. Clearly the rain clouds wanted me to stay put where I was by sprinkling a few drops. Although it never fully materialized, the fact that I didn’t bring any rain gear made me agree with the idea.
